Cang-inte was derived from the names of the two former village chiefs “Cangtilyo” and “Teyo” who work together in merging the two small villages namely “Kabutongan” and “Buac-bato” to form into one barangay, formerly called balangay.
Cangtilyo headed the small village of Kabutongan named due to its abundance of “Butong” or young coconut fruit. Tiyo is the village chief of buac-bato, named from a numerous broken stones and rock formations found in the area. “Buac” is a Bisayan term for broken and “Bato” for stones.
There is actually no authentic record available which definitely tells the story of the creation of the barangay. Accordingly, it was just told by folks and was passed through generations. Another version of the story tells that Cang-inte was named from a village “Vicinte” or “Inte” who was firstly met with the Spaniards
